Sooraya Group has grown from its roots into a diversified portfolio of businesses serving customers across manufacturing, automotive, energy, property development, finance, agriculture, printing and trade.
Today, the Group includes established operations such as Sooraya Fireworks, Sooraya Tiles, Sooraya Filling Station and Sooraya Printers, alongside newer businesses including Sathiwa Incense, Sooraya Mobility and RAS Car Sale.

OUR FOUNDER AND HERITAGE
Michael Fernando
Founder
Sooraya Group traces its beginnings to 1977, when Michael Fernando established Sooraya Fireworks. From this first business, he gradually expanded into new sectors, laying the foundations for the diversified group we are today.
Although now retired from active management, Michael remains an important source of guidance. His experience, values and perspective continue to support the next generation as it builds on the business he founded.
LEADING THE NEXT GENERATION
Ranil Fernando
Group Chairman & Managing Director
Following his education at Maris Stella College in Negombo, Ranil Fernando pursued higher education in the United States, studying at Western Michigan University and subsequently the University of Maryland. After graduating, he returned to Sri Lanka to join the family business and later assumed its leadership from his father.
Under Ranil's leadership, the Group expanded its portfolio with the addition of Sathiwa Incense, Sooraya Mobility Sri Lanka, Sooraya Mobility Japan and RAS Car Sale. These businesses mark a new chapter in the Group's growth, extending its activities into consumer products, international sourcing and the automotive sector.
As Group Chairman & Managing Director, Ranil leads the Group's strategic direction and daily operations.
Today, Sooraya Group continues to build on Michael Fernando's foundations, combining the experience of its first generation with the ambition and direction of the next.
